Professor of English and Humanities
Jacqueline Goffe-McNish is a professor of English and Humanities at Dutchess Community College. She has been a teacher since 1980 and has worked in both private and public schools at the elementary, secondary, and tertiary levels in Jamaica and United States. She teaches Composition, Introduction to Literature, African American Literature, Bible as Literature, and Caribbean literature. She is the Chief Diversity Officer for the college, supervises the teaching of English in DCC concurrent education program in the high school’s Dutchess and Putnam Counties, and was the chairperson for the Liberal Arts Program for seven years. She has written two textbooks: Freshman Composition in Fifteen Weeks published by Kona Publishing Company and Analysis, Approaches, and Appeals in Introductory Literature published by Kendall Hunt Publishing Company. She graduated from St John Fisher College in Rochester, SUNY Brockport, and is a doctoral student in Executive Leadership at St John Fisher College. Recently she was awarded the SUNY Chancellor Award for Excellence in Teacher and the DCC Orrcut Endowed Chair for Humanities. She served as the New York State representative on the National Education Association Women’s Issues Committee for two three-year terms and chaired the local branch of the American Association for Women in Community College.
